College is a total living and learning experience, incorporating both academics and personal growth. As you will soon discover, academic and personal growth can be enhanced by involvement outside the classroom in student organizations and activities. You chose to attend FAU for many reasons. These might include the quality of academic programs, its location in a metropolitan area or proximity to family and friends. Now that you are here, you will find many opportunities to make your college experience even more fulfilling. No matter what time of day or which day of the week it is, there is something in which you can get involved. |
By joining one of FAU's 200 student clubs and organizations, you can make the campus feel like a smaller place. You have the opportunity to make new friends outside the classroom. You can develop leadership, management and interpersonal skills by taking on responsibilities within your student organization. Most of all, you can contribute something worthwhile to yourself and the FAU community by being an active part of it!
The Office of Student Development and Activities is in charge of four major areas: student organizations; advising the Student Government Program Board (SGPB); advising Homecoming; and the Campus Leadership Program. Other areas handled by this office are advising the Council of Student Organization (COSO), reserving various spaces on campus (Breezeway, Bookstore Lawn, Free Speech Lawn), registering all club and organization events, publishing the Club and Organization Manual and hosting an end-of-the-year awards luncheon.
