The spring 2014 semester is well underway, bringing a host of new opportunities for academic and professional development. As we approach mid-term, upcoming workshops about stress management and healthy communication may be especially timely. Additionally, Responsible Conduct of Research workshops about human subjects research and expectations will be useful for students conducting research and required for students working on NIH and NSF funded research, but is open for any graduate student to attend. Stay tuned for details about upcoming workshops regarding dissertation and thesis writing, publishing and scholarly writing and other important topics. Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the 5th Annual Graduate and Professional Research Day on Friday, April 4th. Sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA), Research Day is an excellent opportunity for graduate and professional students to showcase their research and receive constructive feedback from faculty and peers. Financing an advanced degree is an important topic for all graduate students and FAU offers attractive fellowships, awards and other financial aid for qualified students. In fiscal year 2013, the Graduate College awarded approximately $320,000 in university fellowships and awards. In addition, university-wide, 915 graduate students gained valuable professional experience through an assistantship. Click here for a full list of 2014 fellowships and awards.
