Summer 2014 Dean's Message
With the summer 2014 semester nearing a close, I would like to congratulate our summer graduates who will move on to a host of new opportunities made available to them through their advanced degrees earned here at FAU. As a professor, and Interim Dean of the Graduate College, I see first hand the impact attaining an advanced degree can have, both personally and professionally. The experience is enriching in many respects.
To celebrate the accomplishment of earning a graduate degree, we invite summer 2014 graduates to Graduation Celebration! Please make sure to stop by the Student Union, Majestic Palm Lobby with your family on August 5 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. to enjoy food, a photo booth, and the chance to do a “hoot-salute” with Owlsley! Click here for more information.
This is an exciting time to be an Owl. Under the leadership of FAU President, Dr. John Kelly, the University’s outlook is emboldened. We continue to achieve accolades for our research and collegial excellence, in turn producing distinguished graduates. FAU’s fall tradition, the Weeks of Welcome (WOW), which takes place from August 14 – 30, is a great opportunity to connect with fellow students, participate in seminars, socials, and other activities. In addition, our season-opener football game against Tulsa on September 13 serves as FAU Pride Day. Get your red and blue outfit ready!
During the fall 2014 semester, the Graduate College is offering four Thesis and Dissertation Formatting Workshops to assist in successful submission of your thesis or dissertation. Please check our website for the most up-to-date information on the workshop dates and times.
Remember to visit this site often as we will be regularly posting new information about our services and programs that are offered to support graduate programs and students.
With best regards,
Deborah L. Floyd, Interim Dean of the Graduate College and Professor
