Meet Scott Barnard from FAU's College of Engineering and Computer Science. Scott did not arrive at graduate school by the most traditional route. After graduating from high school, Scott, a lifelong resident of Palm Beach County, enrolled in Palm Beach Community College taking general courses in math and science.

Growing up in Hoboken and Paterson, New Jersey, Lizz Petersen knew at an early age she wanted to teach. At the age of four, her mother taught her to read and write in Spanish, her mother's native language.

Julianne Agonis has always been interested in raising awareness of and advocating for people with disease and disabilities. Her younger sister was diagnosed as a juvenile diabetic at the age of 6 and diabetes has been an integral part of her life since then.

Shernette Dunn is a graduate student working on her Specialist in Education degree -- her third from FAU. Influenced by a relative who was a well-respected teacher, Shernette knew she wanted to teach and started her education at Broward College before transferring to FAU. |

Shawn Wilder is a graduate student in the Physics department and a recipient of FAU?s Provost Fellowship. Shawn is one of those lucky few individuals who knew early on what he wanted to do in life. Prior to starting his collegiate career, he knew he would attend graduate school and that his field of study would be Physics. |

Kayla Causey, a native Floridian, was born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, and graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. As an undergraduate, she discovered a passion for conducting research and quickly realized she would need a doctorate in Psychology to continue doing the work she enjoyed. |

Matthew Magoc, comes to Florida Atlantic University as a native of St. Louis, Missouri. Upon completing high school, Matthew enrolled at Saint Louis University studying Elementary Education. After graduating cum laude in December of 2007 with a Bachelor's degree, Matthew chose to stay and work in his native city. |

Eugenia Millender is a Board certified critical care nurse and full-time graduate student working on her PhD in Nursing. Eugenia's previous nursing degrees -- a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Masters of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) were also earned at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at FAU. |

When you think of the French language, what country besides France comes to mind? Did you think of Algeria? Hicham Mazouz, a native of Algeria, is slowly but surely educating the FAU community about French-speaking Algerians. |
