Graduate TA Orientation

Teaching at the university level can be a challenging undertaking, especially in a diverse learning environment. To help newly-appointed graduate teaching assistants prepare for their teaching experience in our undergraduate classrooms and laboratories, the Graduate College sponsors a mandatory Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) Workshop.  This workshop is held prior to the start of the fall and spring semesters. The dates for the Spring 2013 semester are Thursday, January 3  and Friday, January 4, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in ED-119 (College of Education). All new GTAs or continuing GTAs who have not previously attended the seminar must register.

The workshop features speakers and interactive components designed to educate, empower, and inspire graduate teaching assistants in their roles as effective teachers in the undergraduate learning community at Florida Atlantic University. Topics include Effective Classroom Management Strategies, Dealing with Disruptive Students, Legal Issues in Higher Education, Diversity and Dedication at FAU, and more.

Staff/faculty: To register your new Graduate Teaching Assistants so they will receive information about the GTA Workshop and other important events from the Graduate College, please register them here.
