Graduate Admissions
The Graduate College is the central point of contact for all graduate admissions at Florida Atlantic University. When prospective students submit their applications electronically through FACTS, the Graduate College ensures the student has submitted the application fee, required original transcripts from regionally accredited schools, and official test scores before referring the student's file to the graduate program. The Graduate College also reviews applicants' answers to the conduct questions on the application to determine if the student is admissible.
After a student's file has been referred, the faculty members in the graduate program evaluate the student's file based on the essential materials gathered by the Graduate College in conjunction with any supplemental materials required by the individual degree program.
Once a decision has been made, the graduate program makes an admission recommendation to the Graduate College. All official admission and denial letters are issued by the Dean of the Graduate College.
The process of admitting graduate students through the Graduate College is almost entirely paperless. The college and academic units utilize a variety of electronic systems (such as BANNER, VIP, and DARTBOARD) to manage the admissions process from start to finish. It is imperative that all faculty and staff who work with graduate admissions attend Graduate College Admissions Training. The training is especially important in light of the new implementation of Banner and is designed to provide you with the information you will need to efficiently review and admit graduate students. Graduate Admissions Banner Training Session
This session covers the graduate application decision processes and procedures, the use of BANNER to locate student information (application information, test scores, transcript information, holds, etc.), and self-service in MyFAU.
This session provides an introduction to DART BOARD as well as detailed instructions about generating helpful reports such as the Application Summary and Graduate Application Statistics.
This session covers the use of VIP in the Application Process. VIP is a document management system that stores images of hard copy records (transcripts, correspondence, etc.).
