FAQs

1. How do I know which applications have been referred to my department for review?

The referred applications can be found in DART BOARD. It is very important that you select 'RC' and 'RF' as Latest Decision codes. If you don't choose only the two options (RC and RF), you will receive incomplete files.

2. Will the summary form ever indicate whether an applicant would like to be considered for an assistantship, as was on the older, paper form?

The applicant's answer related to the assistantship question has been added to the application summary report generated from DART BOARD.

3. Where are all of the new Graduate College forms located?

The Graduate College website has all the new forms (http://www.fau.edu/graduate/forms/index.php), and provides detailed step-by-step procedures on the use of the forms.

Master's: http://www.fau.edu/graduate/masters.php
Specialist: http://www.fau.edu/graduate/specialist.php
Doctoral: http://www.fau.edu/graduate/doctoral.php

4. How should the electronic decision award be processed?

The electronic decision award is sent electronically to the Graduate College using the following address: decisionaward@fau.edu.  Individual colleges are responsible for determining the order of approvals for decisions.  For example, some departments might submit decision awards directly to decisionaward@fau.edu, while others send it to the unit supervisor or college dean for approval before forwarding to the Graduate College.

5. What role does the Graduate College play in this new paperless admissions process?

By the time departments run reports in WebFocus , many hours were spent by the Graduate College staff to insure that the information is accurate, that the transcripts are valid and complete, that standardized test scores are entered, residency issues have been addressed, and that all the information is uploaded properly to allow for a decision to be made.

The Graduate College staff members are happy to help in any way possible to make this a smooth transition. Our website currently features two PowerPoint presentations with accompanying audio files on “Graduate Admissions” and “DART BOARD”.

6. Where is the new Graduate Decision Form located – what is the link?

7. Where is the new graduate petition form located – link?

8. What do I do if the transcript is not in VIP?

Check SOAPCOL(Banner) to view all the received transcripts

Check SHADEGR(Banner) to see if the student is a former FAU student.

9. Is there an easy way to determine if a student is an FAU grad from the application so I do not have to look in VIP?

The application does not include this information.

10. For students who have not graduated from undergrad, how do we determine a major if it isn't on the partial transcript?

This information has not been available previously on the partial electronic transcripts.

11.  Is there any way to print applications and transcripts if not using Internet Explorer?

The application summary report is a PDF file, and it can be printed from the Print option of the PDF file. The transcripts from VIP are printed by using the Print option on VIP.
