FAU offers nearly 50 study abroad programs in over 20 different countries!  Through experiencing a different culture and earning academic credit, students enhance their personal, professional and academic résumé—demonstrating they have the intercultural competence and versatility needed to compete in today’s global workforce.  FAU students of all majors and from all colleges at undergraduate and graduate levels are invited to participate.  Most programs have coursework taught in English, though there are many program available to students looking to learn a new language or practice one they are learning.

Program Options (FAU Programs)

FAU faculty or adjunct professors lead  1-6 week programs abroad during the fall, spring, or summer term. Students register in FAU course(s) offerings for the program and pay regular FAU tuition.

Students are registered and pay tuition at FAU, but are are enrolled in courses at the partner institution abroad which are pre-approved by FAU; tuition and fees are waived at the host institution.

Students directly enroll as an international student at one of FAU’s partner institutions abroad; tuition is paid directly to the host institution and students receive FAU transfer credit for pre-approved courses upon successful completion.

Third-Party Programs (Non-FAU programs)

FAU Education Abroad is committed to supporting students in achieving their study abroad goals.  If a student has interest in participating in a third-party program--which includes a study abroad  program through another U.S. institution, a study abroad provider or by directly enrolling in a foreign institution--they should meet with Education Abroad prior to applying or committing.  Third-party programs must be approved by the Education Abroad office in order to be considered for transfer credit upon completion of the program and to access any financial aid administered through FAU.  Students should be aware there will be additional steps required to participate in these programs and not all financial aid may qualify.  Study abroad advisors can help guide students through the process and recommend quality third-party programs.
