Overview & Eligibility

FAU offers nearly 50 study abroad programs in over 20 different countries!  Through experiencing a different culture and earning academic credit, students enhance their personal, professional and academic résumé—demonstrating they have the intercultural competence and versatility needed to compete in today’s global workforce.  FAU students of all majors and from all colleges at undergraduate and graduate levels are invited to participate.  Most programs have coursework taught in English, though there are many program available to students looking to learn a new language or practice one they are learning.

Undergraduate students must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher for graduate students in order to participate; some programs may have additional GPA or admissions requirements. Education Abroad staff works closely with students before, during and after their studies to ensure they have a successful study abroad departure and return.

FAU faculty or adjunct professors lead  1-6 week programs abroad during the fall, spring, or summer term. Students register in FAU course(s) offerings for the program and pay regular FAU tuition.

Students are registered and pay tuition at FAU, but are are enrolled in courses at the partner institution abroad which are pre-approved by FAU; tuition and fees are waived at the host institution.

Students directly enroll as an international student at one of FAU’s partner institutions abroad; tuition is paid directly to the host institution and students receive FAU transfer credit for pre-approved courses upon successful completion.
