Welcome from the Director
Welcome to the Office of International Programs (OIP), your “Global Gateway” to international opportunities at FAU.
• Students can study abroad, learn a new language overseas, engage in international service learning, join an international freshman learning community, and conduct international research and specialized training in other countries. Programs are available around the world and for summer periods, a single semester, or an entire academic year. Advice on how to finance study abroad and get an OIP scholarship is available.
• Faculty can learn how to design and lead a study abroad program for FAU students, apply for funds to explore program development, or locate resources to allow access to overseas universities for teaching and research activities. OIP invites faculty (funds permitting) to travel to overseas locations to help explore new program options and international partners.
• Friends of FAU can sign up to get notices about FAU offerings and activities, and to attend public outreach lectures and conferences on international topics. Every year several leading figures from the world of international affairs and international education visit FAU as part of international outreach efforts.
Global understanding and international experiences are an imperative in the 21st century. International borders are melting and global connections are intensifying. Every individual needs to develop global competencies – in language skills, international experiences, and cultural understanding. International experiences and skills increase personal capacities and generate new opportunities which impact positively on your life, work, and career.
