Proposing a Study Abroad Program

Education Abroad provides advising and support services to new and returning FAU employees interested in offering an FAU credit-bearing course with a 1-8 week international travel component--also known as a faculty-led program.  The University has a robust development and approval process for faculty, staff, adjuncts, and administrators leading students abroad on an academic program.  In collaboration with both Academic and Student Affairs & Enrollment Management leadership, Education Abroad is currently developing and strengthening existing policies and procedures to prepare all University travelers for the exciting and complex landscape of international travel abroad.

Regardless of when you intend to propose a faculty-led program, we encourage you to meet with our team to brainstorm and discuss the many possibilities for adding an international component to your academic course!  Education Abroad has existing partnerships with schools, organizations, and vendors around the world and advises faculty leaders in the following:

  • Program development
  • Budget and finance
  • Safety & security
  • Recruitment and marketing
  • Program evaluation

2018-2019 Programs

If you are interested in proposing a faculty-led program during the 2018-2019 academic year, your first step will be to complete the Faculty-Led Program Intake Survey.  Please note this intake survey is NOT the faculty-led program proposal application, nor does it commit you to offering a program.  It is the first step for proposing new and returning study abroad programs.  After submission, Education Abroad will follow up with you directly via email to confirm receipt of this intake survey, schedule a time to discuss your interest, and then will provide you proposal materials and resources. If you have not received correspondence regarding your intake survey within 1-2 weeks of submission, please contact Liz Vocasek at evocasek@fau.edu.

The proposal deadline for 2018-2019 new and returning faculty-led programs is SEPTEMBER 1, 2018.
