Mission Statement
The Freshmen Academic Advising Services' primary purpose is to provide academic advising services to entering first time in college students.
[Students with less than 30 earned college credits]
In support of this mission, the Freshman Academic Advising Service office offers students a broad, but comprehensive array of services aimed at aiding students in developing and implementing an appropriate and meaningful educational plan.
The academic advising program is based on a developmental approach that promotes both the human and intellectual growth of students. The advisee and advisor, as partners, work together to: define and assess academic goals; select appropriate courses for meeting the student's academic goals; gain a clear understanding of institutional policies, procedures and resources; develop decision-making skills; and assist the student in becoming self-directed and self-sufficient.
Specifically, Freshman Academic Advising Services provide assistance with:
-
providing academic advising & counsel
-
course registration
-
information on majors, minors and certificate programs
-
other academic support resources
