Instant Message an Advisor! Add FreshmanAdvising to your AOL Buddy List today and send us an IM when you have general questions about advising.

CHAT (IM) Procedures:

• Electronic academic advising chat questions may be submitted by sending an Instant Message (IM) to FreshmanAdvising, using America Online's Instant Message (AIM) service.

• The FreshmanAdvising screen name will be logged on from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays and staffed by Freshman Academic Advisors.

• Questions should be brief, focused and specific.

• Instant Messages will be responded to on a first-come, first serve basis. Most often the Freshman Academic Advisor will respond to an IM within five minutes. NOTE: If the Freshman Academic Advisor is busy with one or more students, or is otherwise occupied, you may be asked to send an email using this form http://www.fau.edu/academic/freshman/virtual/feedback.html

• If you would like an IM response, please provide your AIM Screen Name in your email message.

• Also, if you have a lengthy or involved question, please email Freshman Academic Advising Services at freshmanadvising@fau.edu.

• Electronic chat is NOT in lieu of an academic advising session.  During the chat session the advisor may request that you come in to Freshman Academic Advising Services for more personal attention.

• The confidentiality of the student with respect to personal and academic information will be kept.

• This is a FREE service that anyone with internet access may use. If you do not have an AOL account, you may obtain a free AOL Instant Messenger account. There are two options: downloading AIM, or using AIM Express.
