Who is My Advisor and What Does He or She Do?
Each student has an assigned academic advisor. Students should contact the FAAS Office to determine who their advisor is and to schedule an appointment. Academic advising is a partnership. Both the student and the advisor come together to develop an academic action plan aimed at meeting curriculum requirements that will lead to the fulfillment of a student’s career goals. When should I meet with my advisor? Students should make an appointment to meet with their advisor PRIOR to advance registration to discuss the classes they will be taking in the upcoming semester. All students with less than 30 credits are required to meet with their advisor and will have a UN hold placed on their registration preventing them from registering until they do so. You should also consult your advisor throughout the semester, if you are experiencing academic difficulty, have been placed on Freshman Warning or Probation or have any problems / concerns you want to discuss.
