Check the Status of your Short Term Advance Request!

The Short Term Advance is a University Monetary advance available to assist students enrolled at least half-time with purchasing textbooks, emergency funds related to educational expenses and unanticipated living expenses.  Students may borrow up to $750 (once each semester) with a $7.50 non-refundable processing fee assessed.

To verify that the Office of Student Financial Aid has received your request for a Short Term Advance and if your request has been “Approved”:

  • Log on to MyFAU
  • Click on the Money Matters! tab
  • Click on “View Financial Aid Information”
  • Click on Short Term Advance

The Short Term Advance Application will be available August 3, 2012.  The first disbursement of the FALL 2012 Short Term Advance is scheduled to process on August 15, 2012 (date is subject to change).   Click here  for more information regarding the Terms and Conditions of the Short Term Advance and general information.

NOTE:
  The Short Term Advance Letter (below) is for Informational Purposes ONLY!    If you applied for a Short Term Advance you will be able to view the date and amount you requested in the “Requested Amount” section under the current term.  Once the Short Term Advance has been Approved , the “Approved Amount” section will display the date that it was processed and the amount that will be direct deposited into your personal bank account (see example diagram below):

Please keep in mind that it takes 2 – 3 BUSINESS days after the Short Term Advance has been Approved before funds are in your bank account.

If you should request a Short Term Advance during the SPRING and/or SUMMER terms, the information will be displayed below the FALL term information.

If your financial aid has completely disbursed for the current semester, and you request a Short Term Advance AFTER all aid has paid out, you will need to repay the Short Term Advance funds from your personal funds; otherwise, you will NOT be able to register for future semesters.
