To be processed for federal student financial aid, you must meet three conditions:
1. Admission
You must be admitted to the university as a degree seeking student.
2. Submission
The Office of Student Financial Aid must have a transmission of a Student Aid Report (SAR) for the current and upcoming academic school year. The Student Aid Reports are generated when you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may submit these applications to the Federal Processor by submitting a paper application or by applying over the internet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Click here for tips on completing the FAFSA.
Once the application has been received and electronically filed, you will be able to access/print a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) only if you have the following:
| i) | a PIN from the U.S. Department of Education or |
| ii) | an email from the U.S. Department of Education with the |
| subject: "Your U.S. Department of Education FAFSA has been processed." |
Important tips/best practices when completing your FAFSA application:
| * | When applying, be sure to include FAU's Title IV code (FAFSA |

| * | Apply Early - Beginning January 1st, you may submit the Free |
| Application for Federal Student Ad (FAFSA). The FAU priority deadlind is March 1st. All applications received after that date will be reviewed in order of receipt. Apply online to save time and effort. When filling out the application, make sure to complete the planned housing code (on Step 6, Housing Plan, on your FAFSA form) with the appropriate housing status, since leaving this section blank could result in underfunding. |

3. Transmission
Once the Office of Student Financial Aid has received a transmission of your data (which approximately is the same time when you receive your Student Aid Report in the mail, check for this information in MyFAU - Click on the Money Matters! tab), you may be contacted and asked to submit additional documents to verify the integrity of your application. These documents may include, but are not limited to, the following:
| * | A copy of your tax return, along with a completed Verification |
| Worksheet. |
| * | A copy of proof of U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizen status. |
| * | A copy of your social security card. |

For more information regarding additional documents, please refer to Eligibility Criteria.
Once these three conditionals are met, your file will be classified as COMPLETE. When your file is complete, we can then proceed to award you financial aid. Within three weeks following that data your file becomes complete, you will be notified that you have been offered financial aid awards.
