The Certificate Program in Film and Video gives students with any major the opportunity to bring together courses from several departments and colleges into a multidisciplinary curriculum emphasizing all aspects of film and video. Participating are faculty from communication, literature, languages, anthropology, theater, business, and other disciplines. The program offers both undergraduate and graduate certificates, with each containing different course offerings and distribution requirements.
For undergraduate students, the certificate program offers scholarly study of the history, theory and criticism of film, video and television as well as hands-on courses in video production.
For graduate students, the program structures the university's current course offerings in film and video to prepare students in any department or college to write a thesis or dissertation in the area of film and video studies, or to simply demonstrate coherent knowledge for teaching or other purposes.
