Sustainability is not all about the environment- giving back is sustainable
There are many ways to get involved at the University or within your own community. Volunteering is self-rewarding, fun, and is at the very heart of what sustainability is all about.
Community Garden
FAU’s community garden is a great opportunity to give back, while doing something fun and educational. During the spring 2012 semester the garden donated about 20lbs. of fresh produce to Boca Helping Hands. Gather some friends, co-workers or make it a class project, click here to get a bed and start growing!

Greenfest
Every fall the University holds our annual Greenfest celebration on the Breezeway where invited guests display, promote and sell their environmentally friendly products, Mission Green promotes ways to conserve our resources and “green” games to challenge your skills! We’re always looking for volunteers, so keep check back to our website for great volunteer opportunities.
Earthday
Celebrated every April 22nd (or around April 22nd) FAU offers unique events every year to help raise awareness about our environment. We’ve had PSA competitions, Academic Service Learning projects, green scavenger hunts, and yoga classes at the new FAU Stadium. We’re always looking for new ideas and events to help bring the University community closer to the environment, contact us and share your ideas!
For other great volunteer opportunities at FAU check out the Wepner Center for Civic Engagement’s website and get involved!
