A host of FAU activities and events will mark the 38th Earth Day since the day dedicated to environmental and sustainability awareness was founded in 1970. It is estimated that more than 500 million people throughout the world participate in Earth Day activities. Don't miss out. - Ride the Tri-Rail on 4/21 or 4/22 and bring by your valid ticket, monthly pass or a 12-trip ticket for a free "Burrito in a Box" from Moe's -- only available in the Breezeway from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit www.get2fau.com to receive a free pass for Tri-Rail and the bus. - A Boca Raton Campus Cleanup sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement and Service will occur on Earth Day. Students, staff and faculty interested in volunteering with the campus cleanup as well as serving as recycling coordinators for the Breezeway recycling containers should contact Jose Herrera or Mission Green to sign up or for more information.
The first 100 students who volunteer one hour through the Center for Civic Engagement and Service will receive a free Mission Green t-shirt. The first 100 staff or faculty who volunteer one hour for any of the Earth Day activities will receive a free Mission Green t-shirt. - Please join Housing for a tree planting ceremony at 6 p.m. in the Butterfly Garden followed by an "hour of awareness" with an ice cream social in the Heritage Tower Park lobbies from 7 to 8 p.m. to learn tips on green living.
- Visit Traditions Plaza (in front of the bookstore) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and learn more about the national movement against using eggs from hens confined to battery cages. FAU's Dining Services purchases only eggs from cage free hens. Find out more about the conservation and sustainability efforts of FAU Dining Services.
- Throughout the day environmental students groups and vendors promoting sustainable practices will be set up in the Breezeway -- be sure to stop by to find out more, discuss and learn.
Please join the campus beautification project from 1pm - 5pm with an appreciation picnic to follow. Volunteers should wear sneakers and comfortable clothing.
