Diving and Boating Safety Program
The Florida Atlantic University Scientific Diving Program is administered by the Diving and Boating Safety Committee established under a Charter issued by the Provost originally in 1998. The DBSC has been delegated the authority to promulgate and administer University policies and procedures with regard to all diving and boating operations conducted in conjunction with academic and research activities at Florida Atlantic University.
Day to day operations of the Diving and Boating Safety Program are administered by the Diving Safety Officer in the FAU Department of Environmental Health and Safety. The mission of the DSO includes:
- Assuring Compliance with FAU, OSHA, and AAUS diving standards.
- Training of Florida Atlantic University Scientific Divers.
- Assisting in the planning of dives conducted under FAU auspices.
- Supervising dives conducted under FAU auspices.
- Administering the FAU Boating Safety Program.
