For the second year in a row, Florida Atlantic University has been named to G.I. Jobs magazine’s list of Military Friendly Schools® for 2013. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students while ensuring their success on campus.
“The faculty and staff of FAU take as much pride in serving our military and veteran students as these students did in serving our country,” said Charles Brown, Ph.D., senior vice president for student affairs at FAU. “They deserve all the opportunities that higher education has to offer.”
Now in its fourth year, the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 schools nationwide. Each year schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board consisting of educators from schools across the country. Complete survey methodology is available at http://www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/Article/methodology-press-kit.
“Inclusion on the 2013 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Florida Atlantic University’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, director for G.I. Jobs and vice president at Victory Media.
The esteemed designation will be noted in the G.I. Jobs “2013 Guide to Military Friendly Schools®,” to be distributed in early October to hundreds of thousands of active and former military personnel as well as at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, a website that military and veteran students can use to search for higher education institutions that match their individual preferences.
G.I. Jobs magazine is published by Victory Media, a veteran-owned business headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company also publishes Military Spouse and Vetrepreneur magazines.
