FAU CARD’s Executive Director Appointed to ASA Board of Directors

Jack Scott, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Florida Atlantic University Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (FAU CARD), has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Autism Society of America (ASA). He also holds the position of associate professor in the department of Exceptional Student Education at FAU College of Education.
“We are delighted to have Jack serve as the chair of our professional panel and serve on our board of directors,” said, Scott Badesch, ASA’s CEO and President of the Board of Directors. “Jack will be an outstanding member of our governance body and will help guide us to continue implementing the most effective approaches to help all impacted by autism.”
Scott has been active with ASA in promoting the safety of children with autism and preventing elopements and wandering. In addition to his executive director role, he is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral. His research interests focus on autism, applied behavior analysis, and early intensive behavioral intervention for children with autism and related disabilities.
ASA is the oldest and largest grass roots autism organization in the nation with a mission to improve the lives of all affected by autism. They are the leading source of reliable information about autism and provide advocacy, education, support, and community on national, state and local levels. Scott will act as chair of ASA’s Panel of Professional Advisors which sets the standards for the Autism Society’s Options Policy that governs their practices.
FAU CARD is a community-based program funded by a grant through the Florida Department of Education. The center provides free expert consulting, training, and support to people with autism and related disabilities, their families, employers, professionals, and community as well as governmental agencies serving them. FAU CARD provides services and support to over 2,100 people throughout five counties in Florida: Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie.
