A Letter from the President

Welcome! Bienvenue!  Welkom! Benvenuti! Bienvenidos!
Yin Dee!  Huan Ying!  Tervetuloa!  Hos geldiniz!  Yo koso!

Dear Fellow Colleagues,

As president of the Florida Atlantic Planning Society (FAPS) I would like to extend a warm welcome to all new students to our Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP), and to all the returning students - WELCOME BACK!

It is my pleasure to inform the new students, as well as, current students that we cordially invite all of you to become members of our student organization, FAPS. This professional organization focuses on providing students with the opportunity to gain professional planning experience before graduation. One of our main goals is to be the connecting network between students and working professionals. FAPS’s upcoming year will bring a variety of events that are not only beneficial to our future careers, but also create a strong student community.

This year we will start off with a Student Social in which students will meet new friends and catch up with old ones. On September 6th, our fabulous alumni will be hosting for us a Welcome Tailgate Party at the FAU vs. UAB football game in Lockheart Stadium. After these two events, we will be attending the FAPA Conference 2008 held in Miami from September 10th – 13th, 2008.

Other activities we host during the year include the Wednesday Lecture Series, Career Day, the Tri-Rail Adventure, Waterway Clean-ups, and many more. The club hosts monthly meetings opened to all members of the organization and encourage students to actively participate at all events.

For more information on our events and other student resources, visit us at www.fau.edu/durp/faps/, or contact me at smurient@fau.edu. We also stay connected through a FAPS Group in FACEBOOK. I wish everyone a great school year and hope that you all can join us and share many good times to come. See you all in the FALL!

Sincerely,
test
