The award, according to an announcement by Giuseppe Battista, director of the AIAE, “honors outstanding Italian American educators from various areas and recognizes the accomplishments and dedicated efforts of individuals … who exemplify the positive image of Italian Americans in the field of education.”

Tamburri, who is a professor in the department of Languages, Linguistics and Comparative Literature at FAU, was also recently elected vice president/president-elect of the American Association of Teachers of Italian, North America’s oldest academic association for Italian studies. Later this spring, Tamburri’s ninth book, “Narrare altrove: ovvero diverse segnalature letterarie” (Franco Cesati Editore), will be published in Italy.
