Prepare for the Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL). You will practice various test questions, analyze each section of
the test and learn test-taking strategies to improve your scores. You must
pass a prequalifying TOEFL test with a score of 480 or higher to take this
course.
Learn to communicate more effectively in personal and professional settings. You will enhance your listening skills through in-class discussions and small group exercises. The course gives you the tools to increase your interpersonal communication skills in a variety of contexts—from knowing how to conduct yourself on job interviews to expressing yourself professionally and communicating better with co-workers. You must be fluent in English to benefit from this course.
Learn the fundamentals of English grammar through a skills-development approach. Review problem areas, including the use of phrasal verbs, tenses, idioms and prepositions. Oral and written exercises will help you to feel more confident and fluent in using English. You will have pportunities to discuss specific grammar issues.
If you are a non-native speaker of English with a good command of the language, this course will help you improve both your pronunciation and fluency. Gain greater proficiency in the sounds and the rhythm of American English speech. Included are: an intensive study of phonetics and audio recording sessions. Class size is limited to 12.

You will be introduced to aspects of effective presentations and put together practice presentations using Powerpoint. At the final session,
you will make a brief presentation and get feedback from your peers and the
instructor.
PREREQUISITE: KNOWLEDGE OF POWERPOINT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS CLASS.
Take this program if you are a non-native speaker of English and wish to acquire a good command of English to improve your professional as well as your personal life.

not allow you to study fulltime, this program is the solution for you. Attend classes three evenings each week and study
grammar, writing, vocabulary building and reading comprehension. This is a
multi-level program in which you will improve your listening and speaking skills
through extensive conversation practice.
If you are currently working in a business environment, this course can help
you communicate more accurately and effectively. Intended for intermediate to advanced non-native speakers of English, the course
focuses on good professional writing skills; correct English grammar usage;
and improved pronunciation and vocabulary in meetings and discussions. Instruction
is interactive and dynamic and involves group work and audiovisual aids.
