The Golden Age of Jewish Humor - Part V:
And You Still Don't Have to Be Jewish to Enjoy This Humor!
Stephen Z. Cohen

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Following his many sold-out presentations, Dr. Cohen returns to deliver some new material along with some of your all-time favorites from the original 2005 program that launched his enthusiastically received series. Remember Bubbie Bambi? She’ll make a guest appearance together with some characters you’ve not yet met. Those who’ve heard him before know that, like listening to Pavarotti sing Nessun Dorma, Dr. Cohen's material can be enjoyed again and again. Renowned for his exceptional delivery, spot-on dialect and keen insights, Dr. Cohen explores what makes a joke Jewish, and what a joke reveals about the unique Jewish experience. From life in the shtetls of the old country through immigration and assimilation in the "goldene medina" of America, the collective Jewish experience during the first half of the 20th century yielded a "golden age" of Jewish humor. Gain a better understanding of why this distinctive humor is such an integral part of the Jewish culture - a culture one need not be Jewish to appreciate. Everyone is welcome and rest assured, Dr. Cohen will be certain everyone "gets" the joke. Come to share the laughter and reminisce… bring a hankie… the nostalgia may induce a few tears.
