Andrew Jackson: KING ANDREW, a.k.a. "OLD HICKORY"

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Andrew Jackson, the Man, the Politician, and the President was the foremost duelist in the history of the United States. His early years led to his character, stern attitude about war and intense hatred toward Great Britain. The elections of 1824, 1828 and 1832 will be analyzed concerning political issues. Jackson's domestic policies concerning the National Bank, Indian Removal and the Tariff of 1828 will be highly detailed, with emphasis on the driving force for his political decisions. The last segment will deal with his title "Old Hickory," the various duels he was involved in during his lifetime, and his lack of fear concerning death. Marc Newman, a.k.a. "Myster History," dressed as President Andrew Jackson, will present a PowerPoint highlighting rare images and historical documents relating to this iconic individual. There will be an assortment of artifacts on display for the audience. The man on the twenty-dollar bill will "Come to Life" with insights not-well-known about our highly controversial seventh President, whom President Trump seems to admire very much.

BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Marc Newman is a historian and author of publications, books and articles. He is a designer of historical commemoratives for US and foreign companies. As a radio co-host he created History On The Air in New York. Marc has been the recipient of numerous awards in education and history on the national and state levels; including New York and Florida. (National Teacher's Medal of Excellence by the Freedom Foundation, American Revolution Award by the Revolution Roundtable, Most Outstanding History Teacher in NY and Most Outstanding Social Studies Teacher in NY, the Congressional Recognition Citation Award for Service). Marc has appeared on several television programs, including 'On The River'- The Chaining of the Hudson River, portraying British Major John Andre.
