Timothy Steigenga, Ph.D., is a professor of political science and chair of the social sciences and humanities at the Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. He is the author/editor of six books and numerous other publications on religion, politics and migration. His most recent books include: “Living Illegal: The Human Face of Unauthorized Immigration” (New Press: 2011) co-authored with Marie Friedmann Marquardt, Philip Williams and Manuel Vasquez and “Against the Tide: Immigrants, Day Laborers, and Community in Jupiter, Florida” (University of Wisconsin Press: 2013) co-authored with Sandra Lazo de la Vega.

Sandra Lazo de la Vega is a research associate at Prime Time Palm Beach County, a non-profit intermediary organization that serves afterschool programs and practitioners. She also served as the research associate for the Program for Immigration, Religion and Social Change at the University of Florida. She received her B.A. from the Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University and her M.A. in Latin American Studies from Florida International University. She has published several articles and chapters on immigration, trans-nationalism, gender and religion including recent publications in the Journal of Migration and Human Security and Migraciones Internacionales.
