Barb Schmidt has been conducting workshops and giving lectures on practical spirituality for nearly 10 years and has studied religion, sacred text, psychology, meditation and self-help since the early 1980s. She is the founder of Spirit of Giving Network and raised millions of dollars for children as the co-founder and President of Ronald McDonald Children Charities of South Florida from 1988 to 1996. In 2001, she partnered with the Peace Studies program at FAU to promote dialogue and guidance for individuals seeking peace within themselves and their communities. The academic program offers an undergraduate certificate, a Master of Arts concentration and a Doctor of Philosophy concentration. With eight years of teaching spiritual practices for daily living at FAU, she developed “The Practice.” In 2011, Barb created the not-for-profit, Peaceful Mind, Peaceful Life as a way to share this toolkit for practical spirituality with all who seek more fulfillment, happiness and well-being in life. She has “Woman of the Year” awards from The Soroptimist Club, The Junior League of Boca Raton, Lynn University, AVDA and a Ronald McDonald award from McDonald’s. Barb lives in Boca Raton, Florida with her husband Dick and is the mother of two grown children, Michelle and David.
