Oliver Buckton, Ph.D.
 Literature and Film

Oliver Buckton, Ph.D., was educated at Cambridge University (B.A.) and Cornell University (Ph.D.) before joining the FAU English department in 1994. He teaches courses on Victorian literature, gender and film and is currently researching a book project on the spy thriller. The author of “Secret Selves: Confession and Same-Sex Desire in Victorian Autobiography“ (University of North Carolina Press, 1998) and “Cruising with Robert Louis Stevenson: Travel, Narrative, and the Colonial Body” (Ohio University Press, 2007), Professor Buckton has also published essays on John Henry Newman, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde and Cinema and Walter Scott. He is the recipient of FAU’s Creative Scholar of the Year Award for 2008–09.
