The Golden Age of Jewish Humor - Part II
You Don't Have to Be Jewish To Love This Humor!
Stephen Z Cohen
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Following his SOLD OUT presentation of PART I in 2014, Stephen Z. Cohen PhD continues with his series in PART II. Classical Jewish humor is a significant part of the Jewish heritage. It is a tradition that needs to be saved -- and Dr. Cohen is its messenger and champion. In this return engagement, he presents a nostalgic, innovative and entertaining lecture weaving thoughtful annotation into the canon of Jewish jokes and stories. From shtetl times in the old country through the immigration and assimilation experience in 'die goldene medina', the collective Jewish experience during the first half of the last century yielded a 'golden age' of Jewish humor. The material illustrates what is and what is not Jewish humor and how and why that humor relates to the unique Jewish experience. Come laugh, reminisce and gain a better understanding of this integral part of Jewish culture -- a culture that one need not be Jewish to appreciate. All are welcome, and rest assured, Dr. Cohen will be certain everyone 'gets' the joke.
