Our Mystifying Love Affair with the People, Customs, Language and Secrets of a Favorite Land
Mary Ann Sorrentino

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Italy is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. Each year millions of visitors spend billions of dollars visiting the country that was, at one time, the single most powerful empire in the world. There are so many reasons for the world to love Italy and all the enchanting and captivating things that make it so alluring, including 2800 years of history, wide-ranging societal and political realities, food, wine, and people that are second to none, art of the highest caliber and stunning scenic backdrop. Join Mary Ann Sorrentino for this four-part lecture series as she discusses her own (sometimes fruitless) search for a “real Italy” and “real Italians” while exploring the diverse country Italy has become. Through art, movies, music, celebrations, traditions and elegance, Italy intoxicates and seduces, and Mary Ann Sorrentino helps us fall in love with Italy all over again.
