Great Books and Their Films
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Book lovers claim that a movie can never be as enjoyable as the book upon which it was based. Yet, we all become curious (and cannot resist the temptation) to check out the film versions of well-known literary adventures. This four week "book & film" series will compare several major bestselling novels with their modern film adaptations. For each session Ronelle will show numerous excerpts of each film as she analyzes and discusses the most interesting details about each book, its author, film director and performers.
1. A Time To Kill by John Grisham, film by Joel Schumacher
2. Gentlemen's Agreement by Laura Hobson, film by Elia Kazan
3. Howards End by E. M. Forester, film by James Ivory
4. The Chosen by Chaim Potok, film by Jeremy Kagan
