EVENT DESCRIPTION: The Joe Scott Trio consisting of Joe Scott on piano, bassist David Tomasello, and drummer Karl Ott, with special guest soloist Jessica Turnoff Ferrari who will perform a repertoire consisting of a wide variety of musical selections incorporating the American Song Book and Latin American and jazz standards performed in various musical styles. Joe Scott will provide insightful commentary. He is a professional jazz pianist, arranger and orchestrator. Dave Tomasello is a symphonic and jazz bassist who performs with symphony orchestras and jazz ensembles in South Florida. Karl Ott received a degree in music at Ohio State University and has performed as a jazz drummer in Europe and throughout the U.S. Jessica Turnoff Ferrari has performed often as vocalist with the Joe Scott Trio and other ensembles, and currently is the Cantor at Temple Beth Am in Jupiter, Florida. She has resided in Boca Raton since 1979 and has sung many services at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton together with her mother, Ann Turnoff. Jessica has a wonderful style and smooth interpretation of the American Song Book.
BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Joe Scott holds a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied Music Theory and Composition. He began his musical career in New York City as an arranger, orchestrator, and conductor for many artists including Frank Sinatra, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Phyllis Diller, Melissa Manchester, and for various record labels including Columbia records. He has also arranged and scored music for television and radio commercials for Pepsi Cola, Dupont, American Airlines, and Texaco. In 1989, he moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and established his own jazz trio (Joe Scott Trio). He has appeared in concert at Sunfest, Jupiter Jazz Festival, the Norton Gallery, the Flagler Museum Palm Beach Symphony Series, Ocean Grand Hotel Sunday Concert Series, and the Hibel Museum. He has been on the LLS faculty at FAU at both Jupiter and Boca Raton since 2003.
