More Great Books and Their Films
Ronelle Delmont

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Book lovers claim that a movie can never be as enjoyable as the book upon which it was based. Yet, we all become curious (and cannot resist the temptation) to check out the film versions of well-known literary adventures. This "book & film" series will compare several major bestselling novels with their modern film adaptations. For each session, Ronelle will show numerous excerpts of each film as she analyzes and discusses the most interesting details about each book, its author, film director and performers.

LECTURES:
1. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley – film Young Frankenstein by Mel Brooks
2. The Fixer by Bernard Malamud – film by John Frankenheimer
3. Le Morte d’ Arthur by Sir Thomas Mallory – film Excalibur by John Boorman
4. Showboat by Edna Ferber – film by George Sidney
5. The Boys from Brazil by Ira Levin – film by Franklin J Schaffner
6. Man in the Grey Flannel Suit by Sloan Wilson – film by Daryl Zanuck
7. The Free State of Jones by Victoria Bynum – film by Gary Ross
8. The Mouse that Roared by Leonard Wibberly – film by Jack Arnold
