Life
in the world beyond the campus provides
students with invaluable experiences
that complement their programs of study.
The experiential learning requirement
applies to all Honors College students
(including international students). Students
may fulfill the requirement through participation
in a study abroad program (minimum of
3 credits and 5 week stay) or through
an internship experience (minimum of
3 credits and 120 hours of internship
experience). All internship and study
abroad programs must be approved by the
Non-Classroom Learning Committee prior
to registration.
Internship:
An internship is a means for Honors College
students to earn college credit while
working in a professional environment
in an area that is of interest and
relevant to his or her program of study/concentration.
Student may seek financial resources
for the internship experience, but
traditionally interns volunteer time
in return for experience and academic
credit.
Further information on internships as well
as forms and guidelines are available on our website.
Study Abroad:
Study abroad means
that you will travel to a country outside
the United States
to study at a university and earn college
credit for this academic endeavor. Advantages:
you get to travel, meet new people, have
intensive language and/or cultural study,
earn college credit in courses you may
not be exposed to at your home university,
and it is an adventure. Disadvantages:
it will cost a bit more than a regular
semester at your home university (plane
tickets, passport, shots, paperwork,
living expenses, etc.). You should look
for university study abroad programs
affiliated with FAU or other Florida
State institutions.

on study abroad is available on our website.
