The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College announces its fifth annual
Symposium for Research and Creative Projects
Featuring the Chastain Honors Symposium Lecture Series

April 4, 2008

The Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University is celebrating the academic achievements of its students, and particularly those students in the Class of 2008, with its sixth annual Symposium for Research and Creative Projects. Many Wilkes Honors College students are engaged in interesting research and creative activities, including their senior thesis projects.  The Symposium showcases honors students and their projects in a one-day event that includes a series of concurrent talks and a poster session.

This year's Symposium will be featuring the inaugural Chastain Honors Symposium Lecture Series. Our keynote speaker this year is Astronaut Tracy Caldwell, who was selected for the astronaut program in 1999. In August of 2007, she was a mission specialist of STS-118 aboard the space shuttle Endeavour. During the mission, the shuttle docked with the International Space Station, adding another truss segment, a new gyroscope, and external space parts. Dr. Caldwell received her Doctorate in Physical Chemistry from the University of California Davis in 1997.
