The Wilkes Honors College Honors Summer Institute in the Sciences is intended for rising high school juniors and seniors who are interested in learning more about the emerging field of forensic science. Students will enroll in one of two college-level courses — either “Investigating the Chemistry of Medicinal and Natural Products ” (for students with an interest in chemistry) or “Investigating the Mind Behind the Crime” (for students with an interest in biology or psychology) — designed to combine realistic “crime scene investigation” research with abundant opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in a modern laboratory. Field trips and social events complement serious academic work to provide a rich and challenging academic experience.
