ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Selection
The Honors Summer Institute (HSI) at Florida Atlantic University will admit students whose scholastic performance and abilities demonstrate the potential for academic and personal growth. Selection for the program will be based upon the student’s high school academic record, a personal statement, and a letter of reference from a guidance counselor, principal, or high school teacher. School and community involvement may also be considered. While college placement exam scores are not required for admission, they may be submitted. Please note that Florida students who intend to dual enroll (and have tuition fees waived) will be required to submit their SAT, ACT or CPT scores upon registering (please see our webpage on dual enrollment for more information: Dual Enrollment.)
Academic Preparation
Applicants should either be rising Junior (entering 11th grade), or rising Senior (entering 12th grade) high school students.
Application Deadline/Limited Places Available
Applications will be accepted as long as space is available. Review of applications will begin after we receive transcripts that include Fall semester grades.
Nonrefundable deposit due, if accepted
The program fees to attend the Honors Summer Institute are expected to be approximately $2,500 for Florida students who are eligible to dual enroll. This figure covers a private bedroom in a Wilkes Honors College residence hall suite, full meal plan, and enrichment activities. Florida students who qualify for dual enrollment do not need to pay additional tuition costs (see eligibility requirements for dual enrollment online). Florida residents who do not qualify for dual enrollment must pay an additional tuition fee of approximately $365 for a total cost of $2,865. Out-of-state students must pay an additional tuition fee of $1,680 for a total cost of $4,180. These figures do not include incidental costs such as books and personal expenses, and are subject to change.
Nonrefundable Deposit if you are accepted
Shortly after notification of acceptance into the program, a $500 non-refundable deposit will be due. This deposit will be credited toward your program fees (see above).
