Dr. Barrett's research interests lie in the areas of American literature ranging
from the seventeenth to the twentieth centuries spanning non-fiction, fiction,
and poetry and including African-American and Native American literatures. Her
research deals with the metaphoric use of fictional photographs in American literature
and with multiculturalism.
