Admissions Decisions

The Wilkes Honors College admits students whose scholastic performance and abilities demonstrate an active approach to learning and the potential for academic growth. Selection decisions are based upon the academic record in a college preparatory curriculum, the SAT or ACT, liveliness of intellect, school and community involvement, and the student's capacity for leadership. The admissions office recalculates the high school GPA based on grades earned only in academic courses. Applicants who have taken Honors, Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate classes receive extra weight in GPA calculations. Most admitted students have SAT’s above 1200, ACT’s above 26, and weighted GPA’s above 3.5. (See the Class Profile of last year’s class)
