Description of internship:
Onsite contact: Abby Claits is the director of volunteer services at Holy Cross Hospital and she will be my supervisor. Her telephone number is (954)776-3171 and email is dxc@holycross.com.
I will work 120 hours as an unpaid volunteer (= 3 credit hours).
My assignment is "TLC" which consists of assisting the nurses in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I will shadow one or two head neonatal nurses. Duties will include assistance to the nurses as needed and some minor clerical work. I will be given the opportunity to observe and ask questions of the nurses in order to increase my knowledge of nursing.

Relation of internship to course of study: My concentration is Psychology. The internship will allow for observation of topics that may be of interest to my senior thesis. The main relation to course of study is my intention to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree after graduating from the Honors College. The internship will allow me to further explore the career of nursing and decide if this is the path I intend to continue on.

Method of Evaluation: Weekly reflection essays to my faculty advisor for a total of 6-10 pages of writing. The paper will incorporate my critical responses to a book and 2 articles relating to the health care industry and to neonatal care. In addition, the employee evaluation form will be submitted.
