Course selection for the Nursing Pathway
 
Students planning on entering the Accelerated BSN program must take the following courses while at the Honors College, earning a C or better in each. Several of these courses count towards the Honors Core and the rest can be taken as electives. Some of these courses count towards concentrations in biology or psychology, though students taking this pathway may select any concentration offered by the Honors College including concentrations in the humanities or social sciences.
  • Anatomy and Physiology: BSC 2084/L (BSC 1010/L is a prerequisite)
  • Chemistry with lab: CHM 2045/L
  • Microbiology: MCB 3020 (BSC 1011/L is a prerequisite; CHM 2046/L is a corequisite)
  • Intro to Sociology: SYG 1000
  • Intro to Psychology: PSY 1012
  • Growth and Development: DEP 2004 or DEP 3053
  • Mathematics: STA 2023; and either MAC 1105 (College algebra, not offered at the Honors College) or MAC 1147 (Precalculus) or MAC 2311 (Calc I)
  • Nutrition: either NUR 3183, DIE 1201, HUN 1201, or CHS 3410 (not offered at the Honors College but can be taken at the Boca Raton campus or elsewhere)
 
Students should check the College of Nursing Accelerated BSN website for other requirements or updates. Also, students applying to the program should notify the Associate Dean, Mark Tunick of their intent to apply.
