Nursing Pathway

Honors College students wanting a fast track to a professional nursing career can take advantage of the Nursing Pathway. Students receive their Honors College degree in the liberal arts and sciences, and with one additional year of study in the College of Nursing, receive a BSN as a second degree.

Requirements: Each year up to 3 Honors College students who meet all College of Nursing requirements and complete their Honors College degree are guaranteed admission to the College of Nursing's Accelerated BSN program. This program is specifically designed for the student with a baccalaureate degree in another field who wants to become a registered nurse. HC students must notify Mark Tunick, Associate Dean of the Honors College, of their intention to apply for the Accelerated BSN. Students pursuing the pathway should consult the Honors College's 'Nursing Pathway Advising' webpage, which indicates the courses they must take while at the Honors College to prepare them for the BSN.

Program details: The accelerated BSN program is an intensive twelve month program of full-time academic study that begins each May during summer session A. Students complete 16 academic credits during the summer sessions; 19 academic credits during the fall semester; and 20 academic credits during the spring semester, all in FAU's nationally acclaimed College of Nursing. For further information see the College of Nursing's Accelerated BSN webpage, or contact Mark Tunick, Associate Dean of the Honors College.
