Two Wilkes Honors College undergraduates concentrating in English Literature have been
accepted to give papers at the nation's only undergraduate literature conference, which takes place March 30-April 1, 2006 at Weber State University in Utah. See www.weber.edu/nulc .
Derek McGrath will present his paper “Shrinking from my father”: Disguises and Dickens' Darwinism in Our
Mutual Friend; and another paper, "A distorted Midwest: A comparison to the valley of ashes in
Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby"
Kathryn Smith
will present her paper "Tess as a Flawed Heroine: The Necessity of
Moral Responsibility in Hardy's Tess of the d'Urbervilles
