Palm Beach Symphony in Jupiter:
Symphonic Music for a Spring Evening

Florida Atlantic University’s Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College presented a concert by the Palm Beach Symphony at the John D. MacArthur Campus on Wednesday, March 30, at 7 p.m.  The full orchestra of 50 musicians, under the direction of Maestro Ramón Tebar, performed works by Darius Milhaud, Alberto Ginastera and Ludwig van Beethoven.

The event honored Mrs. Lois Pope, founder of Leaders in Furthering Education (LIFE), who hs generously supported the Wilkes Honors College with scholarships for students with financial need seeking an all honors undergraduate program.  As a renowned philanthropist, Pope has supported the Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial and the Miami Project to cure paralysis.

Fred and Kit Bigony served as the honorary chairs. Fred Bigony is a former Honors College advisory board member.  Both he and his wife continue to provide significant opportunities for students to attend the Wilkes Honors College. Their extraordinary support has assisted more than 50 students to achieve their academic goals.

The Palm Beach Symphony was founded in 1974 and performs several concerts a year in such venues as the Flagler Museum, The Society of the Four Arts and the Church of Bethesda by the Sea.
