The Honors College has responded to Hurricane Katrina by admitting several students displaced by the storm, and by organizing a series of symposia on the Hurricane scheduled for October and November.
As part of FAU's effort to assist students in our service area who normally attend universities in the hurricane-devastated gulf coast states, the Honors College has admitted four students from the New Orleans area (three from Tulane and one from Xavier) who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
In addition, Honors college faculty, led by Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Kevin Lanning, are organizing a series of symposia on "The Meanings of Katrina." The events will take place on three successive Thursday evenings, beginning on Oct. 27th, in the new Maltz Auditorium on the Jupiter campus. Calls for proposals may be submitted online. Proceeds will benefit victims of the Hurricane. Contact Dr. Lanning (561.799-8652) for further information.
