Walteria Tucker has been a lifelong resident of Belle Glade, Florida, and a proud Title I Migrant scholar. She attended the Dreyfoos School of Arts where she pursued a curriculum in Communications. In 2000, she graduated from Dreyfoos as the first Palm Beach Post Minority Journalism Scholar.

Walteria then went on to attend the Wilkes Honors College with a concentration in International Studies. “At the Honors College, you have the space to make the experience as wonderful as you want it to be.” After graduating from the Honors College cum laude in 2004, she went on to graduate from FAU with a Master of Arts in Comparative Literatures in 2006, and she currently teaches beginning Spanish at FAU while pursuing a PhD in Comparative Studies specializing in race and representation in Hispanic and Francophone Caribbean Literature.
