The Department of Sociology seeks applicants for a tenure-track position in sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2007. We are interested in a critical sociologist with a specialization in social inequalities. We welcome candidates working in gender, class, or race and in other areas of social inequalities. The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level, starting in August 2007. Preference will be given to applicants in the areas of control theory and dynamical systems, including computational methods and applications.

Responsibilities for this position will include research, professional service, teaching, and advising in our undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs. Florida Atlantic University's Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites application for a 12-month non-tenure track faculty position in Organic Chemistry beginning as early as July 2007. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or a related field. Responsibilities include supervising the department's undergraduate organic chemistry teaching laboratories and teaching one of the introductory undergraduate organic chemistry courses each term. The successful applicant will also be expected to engage in other scholarly activities such as developing new experiments, implementing new teaching methods and writing grant proposals in chemical education. Description/Requirements:
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters. The College is home to robust undergraduate and graduate programs located in ten academic departments, associated schools, and interdisciplinary programs. We seek a strong innovative leader who will effectively bride the various disciplines in the arts, humanities and social sciences that comprise the College, who has knowledge of current educational best practices, and who will actively promote excellence in teaching and scholarly and creative activity. As Dean, she or he must be prepared to aggressively pursue development activities and to represent the College through public engagement with the local community and media.

The Dean serves as the academic leader and chief administrative officer of the College and reports directly to the University Provost. Candidates should have a terminal degree in one of the disciplines represented in the College, a distinguished record of scholarship or creative activity and teaching commensurate with appointment as full Professor in one of the College's departments, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and evidence of ability in fundraising and building relationships with the community. Prior service as Chair or Associate Dean and above is desirable but not prerequisite.

The mission of the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is to foster a climate of intellectual achievement and diversity as well as to be recognized as the intellectual and cultural engine of the University and community. It's over 200 full-time faculty are housed in ten academic departments on four full-service campuses and provide classes to over 3500 undergraduate and 450 graduate students. The distribution of different academic programs on selected campuses provides a challenge and opportunity for growth, and the Dean must be responsive to the programmatic needs of each campus. The College consists of the following departments: Anthropology; English; History; Languages; Linguistics, and Comparative Literature; Philosophy; Political Science; Sociology; together with the School of the Arts composed of the departments of Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts and Art History, as well as the University Galleries; and the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies.
