Paula Behul, the ADA Coordinator,
is an on-campus resource that you are encouraged
to utilize proactively. The Coordinator
serves all of FAU’s campuses and will
make time to provide you with resources
and information to ensure compliance with
pertinent guidelines and legislation. The

Today & Beyond Wellness
Today & Beyond Wellness is the health
education department of FAU Student Health
Services, located in SS-8 Room 222 on the
Boca Raton campus. Our programs advocate
the prevention of health problems through
education and participation. Helping to
serve in the mission of promoting healthy
lifestyle choices is the peer education
team, which is always looking for new members.
In the Today & Beyond Wellness office,
you will find free health information in
the form of brochures, handouts, books,
and videos on topics such as alcohol, drugs,
HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases,
stress, exercise, nutrition, tobacco, self-esteem,
birth control, and more. Free HIV testing
and free condoms are also available. We
provide resources, opportunities, and disseminate
information to educate the FAU community
about health & wellness. It is our goal
to create a campus environment that promotes,
encourages, and supports healthy decisions,
behaviors, and lifestyles. All services
and programs are open to students with disabilities.

Student
Health Services
Comprehensive medical care is provided
for all eligible FAU students. The Boca
Raton campus Student Health Services (SHS)
is staffed by Master's prepared registered
Advanced Nurse Practitioners, board certified
Family Physicians, also a board certified
Dentist and a Dental clinic. General medical
care is provided for: illness and injuries;
men's and women’s health care and
testing for sexually transmitted diseases;
mental health issues; and health promotion
counseling. The student health fee included
in the tuition pays for most visits. Reduced
fees are charged for laboratory testing,
medical treatments, procedures, medications,
equipment and supplies. All services are
provided by appointment. The appointment
scheduler can be reached by dialing (561)
297-2276. Student Health Services is conveniently
located on the Boca Raton campus in the
Health Services Building, second floor,
room 240 (above the breezeway cafe).
The new FAU Pharmacy is now open for business,
serving FAU students, faculty, staff and
other community members. A wide selection
of over-the-counter items and prescription
medications are maintained or are typically
available within 24 hours. The FAU Pharmacy
is currently contracted with CAREMARK-Florida
Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Express Scripts
and a variety of other insurance plans.
FAU students without insurance coverage
will receive substantially discounted pricing.

Safety at FAU
The Florida Atlantic University Police
Department provides a full range of public
safety services 24 hours a day, seven days
a week on the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses.
Police are also present daytime hours on
the Port St. Lucie and Broward campuses.
The FAU police department operates in accordance
with the Police Standards and Training Commission
in the State of Florida. Officers are fully
trained professionals who patrol the campuses
by vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle, and on
foot. Some services provided are traffic
enforcement, accident investigation, criminal
investigation, special events management,
crime prevention programs and victim advocacy.
The Victim
Advocacy Program is for all
students, faculty, and staff who may become
the victim of crime either off or on any
FAU campus. (561.297.0500 or victimservices@fau.edu).
The victim advocate can help you with information
about your options in cases of rape, sexual
harassment, stalking, relationship violence,
assault, battery and other crimes. You DO
NOT have to make a police report to utilize
the services of the victim advocate. The
role of the victim advocate is to intervene
for crime victims and help them survive
the experience. Services include crisis
intervention, emotional support, information
and referral, liaison with police departments,
evaluation of options, safety planning,
accompaniment through the criminal and judicial
processes and documentation of victimization
through letters to employers or professors.

Also at the FAUPD website is the current
police blotter, crime alerts, upcoming self-defense
classes (RAD) and educational presentations.
Members of the department are available
to make group or classroom presentations
on a variety of subjects, including acquaintance
rape, sexual assault, drugs and alcohol,
identity theft, campus safety and other
crime prevention topics. The department
operates an anonymous crime-reporting program
through the police web page: the “Silent
Witness Program."
If you are studying late on the Boca campus,
call the Night Owls Campus Escort Service
(561.297.3782) to accompany you safely to
all locations on this campus. These escorts
work from dusk to the early hours of the
morning. "Code Blue" Emergency
Telephones are located throughout the Boca
Raton, Jupiter and Port St. Lucie campuses.
These phones feature safety lighting and
ring directly to the Police Dispatch.

TRAIN YOUR MIND, TRAIN YOUR BODY
The FAU Student Wellness Center is a place
for you to exercise and to learn more about
staying healthy. We offer a FREE membership
to currently enrolled FAU students and also
encourage faculty, staff, family and friends
to join at a great rate!
The Wellness Center welcomes all individuals
and provides a variety of services and equipment
for members with disabilities.
The fitness room features exercise equipment
designed for wheelchair accessibility. For
example, both endurance and strength training
can be performed with the new VitaGlide™.
The arm cycle is also a great workout for
the upper body and helps increase cardiovascular
endurance. Stretching ropes help you get
a great flexibility workout.
The locker rooms feature a wheelchair accessible
shower and changing area, with a privacy
curtain. Multi-tiered lockers provide easy
access to a free, daily locker.
The Wellness Staff is trained to assist
all members and we provide a free exercise
programming service! The staff can design
your exercise program, teach you how to
use the equipment, and provide any additional
assistance at your request.
