The School of Public Administration at Florida Atlantic University offers a graduate program leading to the Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree. The MPA is a professional degree for practitioners in the public sector or for those who plan to work solving public problems. The MPA consists of 42 semester hours, including 30 hours (10 courses) of core curriculum and 12 hours (4 courses) of elective courses. The FAU MPA is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).
In order to better serve our students, we offer some Internet-mediated courses that combine on-campus and cyberspace classes. We offer MPA classes at the Downtown Fort Lauderdale campus, the Boca Raton campus, and the John D. MacArthur campus in Jupiter.
The current MPA Coordinator is Dr. Leslie A. Leip (lleip@fau.edu) and the CAUPA Academic Advisor is Todd Hedrick (thedrick@fau.edu). For all questions about admissions, transfer of credits, and acceptance into the program, contact Todd Hedrick (954.762.5662). Our address is: Florida Atlantic University, Higher Education Complex, 111 East Las Olas Blvd., Room 1010, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33301.

MPA Internet-assisted Courses
Some of the MPA courses are offered as Internet-assisted courses because the professor made the choice to do so. All Internet-mediated courses are set up in Blackboard , which is the course software that FAU supports. Only students who are enrolled in the Internet-assisted course can access the Blackboard course. By using Blackboard, students can access assignments, readings, quizzes and the discussion board from any computer that has Internet access. Most of the Internet-mediated courses are set up so that the students/professor physically meet every other week at the FAU campus and during the "cyberspace" week, students complete the assigned work on their own time. However, there is no guarantee that this is the format that will be followed by all professors - it's up to the individual professor to set up the course meetings.
Dismissal
Students may be dismissed from this degree program at any time for cause. Decision rule is majority vote of the SPA faculty.
Students may appeal such dismissal by sending a letter, with supporting documentation, to the Director of the School, who will place it on the agenda of the next faculty meeting provided the letter is received at least four days in advance.
